Explore your surroundings with teacher and
illustrator Hilary Forsyth, referencing her Family Field Guide book series on the flora and
fauna of the Rocky Mountains. We look at real
animals and plants with special guests from
the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Hilary teaches how to illustrate, paint and
sculpt the natural subjects we observe.
Get inspired by mixed-media art by Claes Oldenburg, Red Grooms and Frank Stella--in ink!
Students learn printmaking techniques to create prints about people, food, colorful patterns,
objects and more. We work with block printing, simple screen printing, collograph printing, potato prints and monoprints. Students
complete the week with personal collections
of printed books, bags and t-shirts!
