ages 4 - 5 CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS The Children’s workshop program explores a full array of artistic disciplines with this core goal: to engage, develop and inspire young artists. A dynamic range of workshops for ages 4 to 17 allows students to try new media, learn different techniques and explore ideas. Instructors, parents, friends and staff celebrate the outcomes of each project, and the collaborative journey of artmaking. The Evelyn and Martin Siegel Children’s Building is equipped with a large studio space and the facilities for each project. There is a supply closet stocked with resources, two kilns, a children’s book library, digital technology and a wonderful outdoor area. Children participating in all-day workshops should bring a sack lunch; adult supervision will be provided. Contact Children’s Program Coordinator Sonya Taylor with questions at 970/9233181 x204. We start our journey by creating our very own passports and then off we go to Mexico, Egypt, Japan, Italy and Africa. Each day we focus on one destination and create a one-of-akind work of art: mosaic sunshines from Mexico, hieroglyphics from Egypt, carp windsocks from Japan, a detailed fresco from Italy and tribal masks from Africa. We also take time to discover the culture, folklore, history and even the food from each of these special places. Sonya Taylor is the Children’s and Outreach Coordinator at Anderson Ranch. Sonya Taylor Ages: 4 to 5 / 1 - 4 pm Tuition: $275  / Studio Fee: $15 Code: K1116 Enrollment Limit: 15 The sunflower might just be the prettiest thing that grows in our mountains! Join us as we take a detailed look at these cheerful blooms through the eyes of the artist who made them famous: Vincent Van Gogh. Why did he paint so many series of sunflowers? And how did he make them look as if they’re jumping off the canvas? In this workshop we get our hands dirty–with both paint and soil–as we create a framed sunflower masterpiece. We also cultivate a mini-garden of sunflowers to take home and watch grow! Sonya Taylor is the Children’s and Outreach Coordinator at Anderson Ranch.
