Carlan Tapp, Tent Rocks August 13 - 17 Final Cut Pro X Bootcamp Larry Jordan Skill Level: I & II Concept:  The narrative of our world increasingly revolves around visual storytelling. Video can change the world and does so on a daily basis. This five-day workshop explores how to communicate ideas powerfully using the tools in Apple’s Final Cut Pro X. This does more than focus on technology; it blends technology with the real world so participants learn not only what to do, but why to do it. By the end of the workshop, says Larry, students may well be “blazing-fast editors.” Media & Techniques: From keyboard shortcuts to almost secret mouse-clicks, this workshop unlocks the power of Final Cut Pro X, combining efficiency with storytelling. Activities:  Instructor-led lectures, intense question-and-answer sessions and lots of hands-on practice. Faculty:  Larry Jordan is a producer, director, editor, author and Apple Certified Trainer in Digital Media with more than 30 years of experience with national broadcast and corporate credits. Based in Los Angeles, he’s a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America. He has written five books on Final Cut Studio, created hundreds of hours of on-line training, and is the executive producer and host of Digital Production BuZZ, a weekly audio podcast devoted to digital video production and post, and 2 Reel Guys, a video podcast devoted to the aesthetics of visual storytelling.   www.larryjordan.biz Tuition: $1145  OR  Tuition + Studio Support Donation: $1345 Studio Fee: $50 Code: P1125 Enrollment Limit 12 August 13 - 17 Expressive Digital Black & White Landscape: image creation to final print Carlan Tapp Skill Level: II - IV Concept: Combine the best of the old and the new in this workshop for the photographer who’s interested in both aesthetics and techniques. We combine traditional Zone System methodology with new digital processes in Lightroom. Working each day on location, we take the time to see and fully express the spirit of the black and white landscape. In the electronic darkroom we combine traditional and new electronic processes, creating a complete digital grayscale workflow. We cover topics including digital black and white conversion, contrast control, sharpening, dodging and burning and final print output. Media & Techniques:  Digital image making, image processing in Adobe Lightroom. Final print output on Epson 3880 printers using QUAD Tone Rip. Activities: This workshop combines photography in the field, discussions of approaches to landscape photography, digital darkroom processing and printing. Faculty: Carlan Tapp is a photographer and educator dedicated to documenting social and environmental issues. He was a teaching assistant with Ansel Adams in the Yosemite Workshops. His photographs have been published in Associated Press, NPR - Living on Earth, and Honor the Earth.
