Concept: Processing, a simple, Java-based
programming language, is an ideal software
sketchbook for developing ideas. Since its
simple beginnings at MIT, Processing has
emerged as an invaluable tool for media artists,
designers and programmers worldwide. Learn
the basics of Processing and use it to create
interactive sketches. We dive into the exciting
world of data visualization, working with data
from a variety of sources (including The New
York Times and Twitter). Final projects can be
output to print, the web and mobile devices.
Concept: This workshop shows how to create
award-winning images through comprehensive
classroom sessions and field shoots in favorite Aspen area locations. Learn how to spot
great photo opportunities, improve compositions and get an insider’s look at professional
techniques. Appropriate for practiced beginner
and intermediate photographers, this session
is designed to catapult students to their next
level of ability.
Finding Your Vision
Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb
Skill Level: II - IV
Concept: We teach students how to photographically explore the world in a direct and
spontaneous way. The emphasis is on the
creation of a unique way of seeing–along with
an intuitive way of editing. We investigate the
emotional and psychological implications of
working in color vs. black and white, how to
photograph in a culture other than one’s own,
the difference between images in a book and
on the wall, and how projects can evolve into
books and exhibitions.
