SCULPTURE RICK PARSONS, PROGRAM COORDINATOR The sculpture program exists to provide a nourishing environment for the breakthrough experience. Instructors encourage exploration and experimentation, emphasizing process and idea development over finished pieces. Students work in open, fully-equipped studios, using traditional and nontraditional materials and methods. The sculpture studios provide facilities for work with metals, ceramics, wood, found objects and plaster. The main sculpture studio encompasses 2,000 sq. ft. indoors, with another 1,500 sq. ft. of outdoor space. These facilities are equipped with hand tools, welders, torches, saws, drill presses, pneumatic tools and an air compressor. We also house a small foundry. Sculpture classes are held throughout the Ranch, and workshops may also meet in the Ceramics studios, the Maloof Wood Barn and the Digital Labs. Rick Parsons holds an MFA from the University of Dallas. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Dallas and has exhibited his work in galleries and shows worldwide. Call Rick at 970-923-3181 x237 or email him at [email protected]. DIGITAL MEDIA AND PHOTOGRAPHY The Digital Media and Photography Program offers workshops for all levels - whether you are a photographer just learning to create great images, a professional photographer deepening your skill, or an advanced digital media artist wanting to push your work to the next level. All of our workshops are rooted in the same idea: creating powerful art requires rigorous inquiry into techniques and ideas. We support your investigations with two Digital Media labs. They are equipped with PowerMac G5 computer workstations with Epson 2400 printers, dual calibrated monitors and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium and Final Cut Pro. You may also have access to a Howtek D4000 drum scanner, Nikon CoolScan film scanners, Epson flatbed scanners, and large format printers, including an Epson 4000 and an Epson 9800. A high definition mini-DV camera and a Canon EOS 20D Digital SLR are available. Our darkrooms have Saunders enlargers and a water temperature control system as well as black & white film processing and print finishing areas. CHILDREN’S PROGRAM AND OUTREACH SARABETH BERK, PROGRAM COORDINATOR The children’s program at Anderson Ranch prepares children for the future by sparking their imaginations and enhancing their inherent creativity through the making of visual art. In each workshop, children explore meaningful ideas and processes that lead toward authentic work in a variety of media. The children’s classes are offered in the Siegel Children’s Workshop Building. Class size is limited, offering each child plenty of individual attention. Sarabeth Berk grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley and returned in 2007 after pursuing an undergraduate degree in Visual and Critical Studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and completing her Masters of Art in Teaching Art and Design Education at Rhode Island School of Design. Sarabeth taught art at the Island School in the Bahamas and is a certified k-12 art educator. Call Sarabeth at 970-923-31
