Evelyn Siegel
Ages 10 and up, Mon. - Fri., 1:30 - 4:00 pm
Tuition: $250
Code: K0712 Enrollment Limit 10
CONCEPT: Students will learn how to create beautiful, sparkling and colorful metallic designs using the process of copper enamel. Copper enameling is a method of adhering glazes
onto copper in a small kiln, similar to glazing ceramics, and is
something you won’t find in an ordinary classroom. Unlike
working with clay, you won’t get your hands dirty, but creating these sophisticated works of art requires concentration
and attention to detail.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students will be making jewelry, precut
forms, functional items and working on flat sheets of copper.
ACTIVITIES: Students will be using copper, glazes and precut
forms to make flat or concave creations. Special tools will
help in applying glaze to metal, which will then be heated in
a special kiln.
