THE CHILDREN’S program prepares children for the
future by sparking their imaginations and enhancing their
inherent creativity through the making of visual art.
In each workshop, children explore meaningful ideas
and processes that lead toward authentic work in a variety of media. Class size is limited, offering each child
plenty of individual attention. The children’s classes are
offered in the Evelyn and Martin Siegel Children’s Workshop Building, a 1,500-square-foot facility with a porch
and courtyard area where students can work.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM SKILL LEVEL:
Open to All – Subject to specific age requirements,

CONCEPT: Enter the wonderful world of watercolor and learn
how to paint pictures of yourself, family, friends and nature.

class mural of the world.

FAMILY DAY WORKSHOPS
Do you want to get messy with your kids, use your imagination and learn about art? Anderson Ranch is pleased to
offer a new workshop series called “Family Day.” Each
workshop will investigate a different art project for children and adults to create together. Projects will include
a variety of mixed media techniques, and themes will
be appropriate for younger ages. Talented children’s art
instructors will teach each unique project, but workshop
content will not be known until the day of the session.
Supplies are included and each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Session 1
Ages 6-8 years old, Mon. - Thurs., 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Tuition: $250
Code: K0201 Enrollment Limit 14
CONCEPT: Hang on to your brayers as we begin a printmaking adventure modeled after the artist Matisse. Students will
create various kinds of prints such as collographs, which are
made from found textures, to foam plates. Matisse liked to
create still lifes, and students will experiment with making
their own as well. After a flurry of printing finishes, some of
the designs will be turned into wearable art. The workshop
will be filled with lots of fun and prints galore.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students will use water-based printing inks, stamp pads, washable Crayola markers as well as a
printing press for some of the printing.
ACTIVITIES: The workshop will begin with introductions and
activities based on the art of Matisse. We will explore still
lifes, demonstrate how to use the printing press, create collographs, experience a variety of printing methods and wrap
up the week with a final show of prints.
FACULTY: Denise Magley taught art in the Loveland public
schools for over 30 years and received the Colorado Elementary Art Educator of the Year Award. She is now retired from
teaching full-time, but is working as a full-time artist in her
