This workshop will expand your image-making vocabulary as it teaches you how to work with a variety of negatives, from digital to film, then print those negatives using a variety of alternative processes. Students will explore printing methods using hand-applied emulsions from early photographic history, as well as contemporary alternative image-making techniques using the varied surfaces of paper, wood, glass, metal and fabric. Once the images are made, students will explore different ways to finish the work using simple mat cutting and bookbinding techniques to create final works of art. By the end of the week, students will have a strong foundation in a variety of printing processes and different ways to display their work.
