This workshop explores the wonderful ways of
transforming Lego bricks into unique art works! One Lego
brick at a time we work together to create elaborate
sets and scenery for stop-motion animations starring
our favorite Lego minifigures. We also experiment with
easy-to-use computer applications to design Lego movie
trailers and Lego games. We craft small Lego mosaics
to take home! We begin by drafting a drawing on graph
paper, and then we transfer our drawings into a Lego
mosaic. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make multidisciplinary artistic creations with Legos as your medium!

Join us as we discover the world of robotics and
programming using the Lego WeDo platform! Students
design, construct and program autonomous robots by using
Lego parts, sensors, motors, and Lego WeDo Software.
We investigate basic engineering and mechanical design
principles while programming their robot to perform
simple tasks. When we are not working to program our
robots, we use our imaginations to dream up architectural
structures and creative story lines for our LEGO creations!

Join the team as we design an ultra-imaginative float
for Aspen’s old-fashioned Fourth of July Parade! Lend
your creativity and skills to help win the title of “Best
Children’s Float.” We begin by developing a theme and
then spend the week painting, gluing and decorating
props to turn the official Anderson Ranch truck into a
masterpiece! We top it all off by creating costumes for
students to wear while walking alongside the float in the
official parade on Saturday, July 4th.
KATHERINE BELL graduated from Colorado College
with a B.A. in Art History and Studio Art. For the last
six years, she has worked with communities in the Bay
Area, South America, Minnesota and her hometown of
Aspen engaging children through art. She is currently
the Children’s Program and Outreach Coordinator for
Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
