annual art auction & community picnic spring open house holiday open house Anderson Ranch’s Annual Art Auction and Community Picnic is one of the most anticipated days of the year and brings a valley-wide audience together for one of the liveliest family-friendly events of the summer season in Aspen/Snowmass. On Saturday, August 9, our hard-working kitchen crew served a delicious gourmet picnic, and the Ranch held a completely paperless auction with the help of Paddle8 and their iPad bidding technology. Local, national and international artists contributed artwork for our silent and live auctions, including pieces from Marina Abramovíc, Barry X Ball, Sanford Biggers, Trevor Paglen and Nick van Woert. The event raised $303,100 for Ranch programs. The Spring and Holiday Open Houses are a wonderful way for the community to engage with our spring and fall artists-in-residence and experience the world-class studios at Anderson Ranch. Twice a year, the Ranch hosts a small group of emerging and established artists and gives them access to our state-of-the-art facilities. The 10-week Artists-in-Residence program culminates with an Open House, and the Ranch invites the community for a unique opportunity to view the artists in their workspace and purchase work directly from their studios. “It always feel so good to be at the Ranch, especially for the Annual Art Auction. It’s a soulful place. There are people here who are interested in the creative sides of our brain...and it just feels good to be among them and to support them.” - Barbara Lee 22 AndersonRanch arts center special events
