Anderson Ranch Arts Center 2014 Annual Report | Page 10

2014 artists-in-residence program Each year, Anderson Ranch welcomes 28 artists (14 in the spring and 14 in the fall) to work and live at the Ranch for a 10-week period. During this time, the artists develop their work in a distraction-free environment while collaborating with Ranch staff, visiting artists and other residents. Anderson Ranch’s residency program is unique from other residencies in that the artists are encouraged to explore new mediums and step outside of their comfort zone. Collaboration, open dialogue and the discovery of new materials and ideas provide the resident artists with meaningful experiences. In 2013, Anderson Ranch received 238 residency applications from more than 12 countries. Artists came not only from the United States to participate, but from England, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Residents included both emerging and established artists. The photography & new media, furniture design & woodworking, printmaking, painting and sculpture studios each had four residents in 2014, while the ceramics studio had eight artists participating in the program. Of the 28 available spaces in the Artists-in-Residence Program, four are fully-funded fellowships awarded by a jury panel. Spring 2014 - 2015 jury members included esteemed artists Nina Katchadorian, Jacques Kaufman and Richard Saxton. The fall 2013 - 2014 jury panel included Michael Sherrill, Mark Klett and Jean Gumpper. The jury panel’s contribution to the selection process is appreciated, as selecting from such a talented pool of applicants is a difficult endeavor. spring 2014 artists-in-residence Heidi Earnshaw, Wood, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Hannah Hill, Painting, Baltimore, Maryland; Marnia Johnston, Ceramics, Concord, California; Matt Keener, Sculpture, Farmville, Virginia; Carol Koffel, Ceramics, San Francisco, California; Megan Ledbetter, Photo/New Media, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts; Cara Levine, Sculpture, Oakland, California; Susan Makov, Printmaking, Salt Lake City, Utah; Kathleen Scott Moore, Printmaking, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Andrew Roberts-Gray, Painting, Glenwood Springs, Colorado; John Souter, Ceramics, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Michaela Stone, Wood, Rockport, Maine; Danielle Wood, Ceramics, Las Cruces, New Mexico. fall 2014 artists-in-residence residency supporters Caitlin Cocco, Painting, Tabernacle, New Jersey; Tara Cooper and Terry O’Neill, Printmaking, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Jeremy Dean, Sculpture, Brooklyn, New York; Lily Dithrich, Wood, Oakland, California; Marisa Finos, Ceramics, Richmond, Virginia; Anna Garner, Photo/ New Media, Olympia, Washington; Daniel Greenberg, Printmaking, Chicago, Illinois; Liz Heller, Sculpture, Madison, Wisconsin; Daniel Leivick, Photo/New Media, Los Angeles, California; Claudia Mastrobuono, Ceramics, Longmont, Colorado; Elysia Michaelsen, Painting, Plymouth, Minnesota; Nicholas Oh, Ceramics, Daly City, California; John Procario, Wood, Cold Spring, New York.
