I wanted to say no, that it was alright the way it was, that I didn’t care about the dance. I wanted to say no and I looked with fascination at the cracked feet standing on charcoal piles, under umbrellas that once would have been colourful and now gave some shade to the cracked feet that stepped over the charcoal which the hands separated, covering the sun with faded and blackened little stripes.
