An Ode: Shadow - A Seventeen Anthology | Page 70

“Are you scared, Mingyu-ya?” Seokmin coos with a nasally voice, a mischievous smile appears in his face. “Mingoo-ya, do you want me to hold your hand?” “Shut up, Seok,” Mingyu pretends he’s gonna hit Seokmin while the other boy laughs gleeful- ly. He unlocks the door with a spell and follows Seokmin to the book cabinet. “I can’t believe we still have to learn how to make a potion that we are supposed to learn in the next two years, in a dream.” “Get me wolfsbane, dittany and…,” Seokmin is already on the page, his fingers scanning the ingredient list carefully. “Powdered moonstone. But do not grab them, levitate them to my table.” Mingyu nods and starts scanning for the said ingredients in the row of cabinets next to him. He slowly levitates them one by one, after squinting so hard due to the poor light inside the class. Potion has never been his brightest subject, but Seokmin makes no protest sound so he guesses he did it right. After all the ingredients and tools have been laid out in the table, Seokmin starts working. Mingyu takes a step back to let him fully concentrated. He peeks through the window and the murky night sky greets him again. Three years ago, they both were trapped in the third floor where students weren’t allowed to be. Their encounter with Three-Headed Dog was really unexpected and they were still in their first year without much knowledge of spells. Minghao was there right when the enormous monster was about to strike on Mingyu, casting a foreign spell and sending it tumbling backwards. He caught Seokmin and Mingyu by their robes and pulling them out from the chamber, safe from any harm. Ever since then, they became inseparable trio. Despite coming from different houses and the fact that Minghao and Mingyu both play for their house’s Quidditch team, their friendship works just fine. That’s why it kind of bothers Mingyu upon knowing that Minghao has been keeping a big secret from both of them. Is it just a part of a dream? Mingyu frowns. Or is it the truth contained within a dream? A faint blue smoke suddenly intrudes Mingyu’s sight. He turns at Seokmin who’s grinning widely, hand stirring the concoction inside the tiny cauldron. “Does it work?” Mingyu asks, there’s a glint of hope in his eyes. “It does! I can’t believe I can make it, Gyu,” Seokmin says with proud in his tone. “I’ve read somewhere that this potion is particularly hard to make.” “You’ll crush Snape in no time, bro,” Mingyu grins. “Now we should go back to the forest so we can make Hao drink this.”
