BEHIND THE SCENES Size doesn’t matter Award for successful advertisement If the slogan fi ts, then size is a contentious argument. The advertising theme to promote the PRC series of circular connectors not only drew attention to the product in a clever way, but it was so memorable that it has won two prestigious prizes in one go. The WEKA Ad Award is voted for by the public. For the fi rst time, publishing house WEKA Fachmedien invited its readers to vote on the best ads from the electronics, automotive, automation, and ICT sectors. With its publications, the publishing house is actively involved in these specifi c areas of interest. The award ceremony was held on November 14 in Munich. And the snappy statement accompanied by the image of the strong, hot drink was so catchy that Phoenix Contact won both the prize for the best visual and the best slogan. Security when it pops Award for ImpulseCheck With ImpulseCheck, the assistance system for surge protection, Phoenix Contact has won the GIT Security Award 2020 in this category. Dr. Martin Wetter, Head of the Surge Protection division, accepted the prize at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg. With the intelligent assistance system, the state- of-health, i.e., the current state of the surge protection, can be called up online at any time. In addition to monitoring the surge protective devices, ImpulseCheck also provides a simple and comprehensive analysis of the system’s EMC. Possible disturbance variables are detected before there is a system failure. This makes service and maintenance approaches easier to plan. Innovator of the Year Plugging instead of soldering convinces jury Phoenix Contact was awarded the title “Innovator of the Year 2019” for the ScaleX technology of its FINEPITCH board-to-board connectors. Readers of Design&Elektronik magazine voted it the top innovation in the electromechanics category. Torsten Janwlecke, President of the Device Connectors business area, and Markus Sonderer, Senior Director of Product Marketing and Product Development, accepted the prize at the Weka Verlag awards ceremony in Munich. The FINEPITCH series is used to connect printed circuit boards to each other as quickly, reliably, and safely as possible: with board-to-board connectors, Phoenix Contact provides shielded and unshielded solutions for signal and data transmission for the fi rst time. From telecommunications, to building and industrial automation, to IoT applications – board-to-board connectors provide you with space-saving solutions for signal and data transmission. Even in industrial environments that are rough and challenging. This allows individual PCB orientations with different designs, stack heights, and numbers of positions in compact 0.8 and 1.27 mm pitches. 50 UPDATE 4/20 The Phoenix Contact innovation magazine Cost-cutting facility Award for building management system With its own Emalytics building management system in use at the Bad Pyrmont location, Phoenix Contact is reducing operating costs there considerably. And with such innovative methods that the system won the “Product of the Year” award in the Smart Building category. The prize was offered by the Weka publishing house. The highly automated building is controlled and monitored via the IoT-based building man- agement system. Among other things, the energy consumption of the building, the occupancy of the meeting rooms, and the condition of the heat- ing system can be called up via mobile phone. weka.de
