AVC WINS EMMY AWARD FOR TELEVISION EXCELLENCE
The Honors : A Salute to American Heroes , produced by the American Veterans Center and the first televised awards show saluting our veterans and military men and women , was the recent recipient of an Emmy Award for outstanding work in television . The award was presented at the 57th Annual Emmy Awards gala hosted by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences .
The Honors shares the stories of American military legends from World War II to the present day , with their stories of heroism introduced by notable celebrities and supporters of our military such as Gary Sinise , Pat Sajak , Joe Mantegna , Mark Valley , Taylor Kitsch , Megyn Kelly , Bret Baier , Lorraine Bracco , and more .
“ We are proud to add The Honors to The Oscars , The Grammys , The Tonys , and of course , the Emmys , as the first awards show saluting our military heroes ,” said Tim Holbert , Executive Director of the AVC and producer of The Honors . “ These are heroes whose names every American should know , and we ’ re honored to build The Honors into a Veterans Day television tradition .”
The Honors was broadcast over Veterans Day weekend , 2014 nationwide on REELZ Channel and worldwide on American Forces Network . The Honors is set to return this fall , filmed the evening of Saturday , November 7 in Washington , DC . NEW AVC DOCUMENTARY ON THE DOOLITTLE RAID PREMIERES AT U . S . CAPITOL
On May 18 , 2015 , the AVC and World War II Veterans Committee proudly premiered the new documentary film , Doolittle ’ s Raiders : A Final Toast at the U . S . Capitol building in Washington , DC . The film , conceived and executive produced by the AVC , tells the story of the legendary Doolittle Raid on Japan of April 18 , 1942 , and of the 80 men who took part .
The premiere was the opening event of the 2015 G . I . Film Festival , a weeklong event that spotlights films dedicated to displaying the heroism of our veterans and military men and women .
The event was preceded by a special Congressional reception in honor of the Raiders . Pictured left , Lt . Col . Richard E . Cole - Jimmy Doolittle ’ s co-pilot and one of two surviving Doolittle Raiders - is joined by AVC President Jim Roberts and actor & veterans advocate Gary Sinise at the reception .
Following the film was a Q & A session with Lt . Col . Cole and the film ’ s producers . Pictured above , left to right , are Ambassador Lyushun Shen , Ph .
