The trend right now is in personal
training for the sport. You have to
be willing to sacrifice to get what you
want in the end. The sport you play is
irrelevant. You have to push yourself
past your limits.
Paying it forward, one entrepreneur at a time!
ALM:
How hard or easy is it working with
family?
Edgar:
It’s tough working with family because
everyone has ideas on how to run the
business their way, but it’s all about
setting guidelines from the beginning.
ALM:
Do you plan on coaching more in the
future?
Edgar:
My dad once told me a company
offered him more money to do something he didn’t like to do, but he knew
that if he loved what he does he could
do a better job. So I’m following his
advice. I’m not in a desperate situation where I have to take a job I don’t
like. If it doesn’t fit, I’m not going do
it.

ALM:
How much is mental vs. physical?
Edgar:
Before pro ball, you need physical
ability. Once your there everyone
has physical ability. You need strong
mental ability to separate yourself
from the rest.
I just wrote a book call the 27 Characteristics That Helped Me Get To The
Major Leagues. I plan on translating
it into a business training seminar and
manual.
I remember once being in the lockers
with a major league player that had
previously won an MVP title and a
reporter asked him how he would feel
about winning again and he stated that
he hasn’t made the team yet. The reporter replied “what do you mean,
you already made the team, you’re…”.
The player replied that when he was
younger there was another guy that
was an All Star in front of him that
Edgar:
My dad hired a trainer that would
work us out early in the morning.
Nobody was there but us. I asked why
so early and the coach said, “that in
order to get the results we needed to
compete, we needed to be training
when nobody else would.” I knew
then that if we trained like everyone
else, we would most likely get the
same results.

had hit 35 home runs, yet I came in
and took his spot.” So even though the
other player was there physically, the
coaches must have noticed a difference
between them and chose the second
player for the position. I realized there
was more to the sport. If I think I’ve
already made the team just because
I can hit the ball, someone’s going to
come in and take my spot that is more
mentally fit.
ALM:
Any last words of advice?
Edgar:
Definitely!
Write down the steps it takes to get to
your goals. Stay focused on your end
goal, but once you’ve written them
down, master step one before you take
the next, but don’t stall. Stop over
thinking the process and do something everyday to move forward.
The one thing I’ve learned from my
father and brothers is that anything is
possible if you condition your mind.
Never sell yourself short. You’ll never
know what you’re capable of doing
until push forward.
We love our father and mother for the
support and discipline they taught
us and as brothers nothing stands
between us. We love each other and
support each other. So many people
give up just before the magic happens.
If you’re on the supporting end of the
equation, never stop supporting and
never stop giving positive affirmations.
Never give up because you might
regret you did years later. Time is the
one element you cannot never replace.
