Leadership Talks series,
on May 29 AmCham
hosted Benjamin
Perks, the UNICEF rep-
resentative to Macedonia, who
addressed more than 30 executives.
Ben talked about the need for
strategic and concerted investment
in the development of children as
a precursor for a stable and pros-
perous society. He also pointed out
that investment in children’s educa-
tion has to start very early for best
results: “You don’t create an entre-
preneur at the age of 21, you start
creating entrepreneurs when they are
as young as 3,” he said.
Developed countries aim toward
building stronger knowledge econ-
omy which lays upon innovation,
action learning and creativity that is
introduced in schools at earliest age
possible. In Macedonia, a little over
half of the country’s 15-year-olds
scored below basic proficiency lev-
els at the international OECD Pro-
gramme for International Student
