AMCHAM NEWS
Business – University
Cooperation Breakfast
Our third annual gathering on business-university cooperation was held on June 23rd and included 70 guests
from the business community, local private and state
universities, state institutions and student organizations.
Jess Baily, U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia
Miroslav Marchev, AmCham Board President
“We are truly confident that the successful development of the university education is dependent on open
communication and meaningful discussions between
the government, the business sector and the universities,” said AmCham Board President, Miroslav Marchev
during the opening.
The roundtable discussion, moderated by AmCham
Executive Director, Michelle Osmanli, touched on four
main themes: internship programs, guest lecturers from
the local business community, use of business cases and
simulations in classrooms and laboratories and creation
of specialized programs. She opened the discussion by
pointing out that AmCham was proud to have many of
the country’s most engaged companies as members. She
said there were relatively few companies in the country that had invested in serious, long standing and deep
cooperation programs, thus recognizing and encouraging their efforts was important.
U.S. Ambassador to
Macedonia, Jess Baily,
also helped opened
the event by pointing
out that current business-university cooperation in the United States
still leaves room for
improvement, despite
its 120 year history.
Thus, he underscored
the importance of open
dialogue on this theme,
as well as a long term
view of the process.
