PAST EVENTS
The IMF Resident Representative presented
the vision of his institution on the situation
and the outlook for the Macedonian economy. Mr. Gitton said that supportive macroeconomic policies have helped the country to
weather relatively well the effects of the crisis, and that a key challenge is now to stimulate growth and employment while keeping
a sustainable trajectory of public finances.
He emphasized that an important part of his
role is to collect feedback on business climate-related issues from the local business
community. A number of concerns were
raised by present members, particularly with
respect to the impact of a highly conservative financial services sector on the ability of
small and medium businesses to grow and
export.
Guests valued the networking opportunity as
well as the insightful discussion of big picture
topics that are not a part of their everyday
routine, but inevitably impact their business
performance.
