Spring Fundraisers

This year the CWC student ambassadors raised money for Almost Home Wyoming, a nonprofit and permanent homeless shelter. They help people in the Lander community have a permanent home and help them get a job.

They currently have two clients, both have new jobs and while they get on their feet Almost Home pays for their rent.

Student ambassadors goal this year is to raise more than $1,000. When we spoke to Lucy Cone who helps run Almost Home and is on the board of directors, she said how grateful she is that we are helping raise money for them so they can help more people and strive to become a bigger help to the community.

We have had several fundraisers. First, we did a bake sale at the 1A and 2A basketball tournaments. We sold sweets and goodies but we also sold Indian tacos which I think was our biggest seller.

The next fundraiser was raining change and flamingo-ing. Raining change involved hanging umbrellas around campus for people to toss change into.

Flamingo-ing is where we, as ambassadors, placed flamingos in classrooms and offices. Staff members then paid to have the flamingos removed and placed into another employees office.

The final fundraiser will be a 5k Color Run on May 4 at 8:15 am in the CWC Arts Center parking lot. This event is open to the community.
