Steps to become an ambassador

2

an experience by Carly Connor

The process of becoming an ambassador was not as scary as I initially thought it would be.

I applied for the scholarship online by going to the Central Wyoming College website and filling out my scholarship profile, which included questions about my GPA and my other academic and athletic accolades as well as my work I did for my community.

Being an ambassador was something I was hoping to do in Riverton. When I was ultimately selected to conduct an interview it was certainly new for me.

As an international student my interview was on the phone rather than in person, the members were easy to talk to.

I felt comfortable expressing my stories of how I have become a better leader through trial and error and through being a compassionate member of my community.

A tip I would have for a future student wanting to be an ambassador would be, to be open with the committee and speak from experience. Meaning relate to things you’ve done in the past to the questions that they ask you.

After I received the call that I had been selected as an ambassador, I felt a tremendous amount of pride knowing that I could leave my mark at CWC and in the community and set an example of what I think a leader should look like.

In conclusion, the process of becoming an ambassador sounds more intimidating than it really is.

The tool that helped me the most was being personable and relating my past experience to not only my interview but every task that I have completed as an ambassador.

The atmosphere in which you get to work in with students who have the same common goal is well worth filling out the application and doing the interview.

I would recommend this scholarship to anyone who wants to make a difference in a happy and positive environment.
