Helping Animals Dear to Ambassadors Hearts

Paws For Life, an animal care shelter in Riverton, Wyoming has been caring for animals since 2004, 15 years of service. Volunteers rescue homeless animals around Fremont County. Paws then gives these animals a place to get out of the elements and have a good meal while waiting to be adopted.

Paws also strives to help others understand issues about animal overpopulation, proper pet care, and the responsibility needed to own a pet. Their commitment to helping furry companions in a time of need shows their heart and willingness to put others first.

The student ambassadors at CWC recognized this commitment to help others and inspired them to join the fight. While the hero's at the shelter work hard finding other homeless animals and caring for the ones they have already rescued, the student ambassadors wanted to help the animals prepare for the cold Wyoming weather that was to come.

The ambassadors collected material and old clothing to make tie blankets for the animals as well as braided rope toys. For two days the ambassadors worked hard to make as many blankets as possible, donating two tubs full of blankets and toys to the PAWS shelter.

“The fleece blankets are much easier to clean and keep the animals way warmer than towels," said Pamela Canham, Paws board president. "The cats will roll up in the blankets making little cat burritos.”

Many of the blankets are still being used today and they have a large bank of blankets left to replace the ones that wear out.

“Paws would like to say thank you to the entire CWC community for everything they do” Canham said. Many students come and walk animals or get them out for a play time.

All of the little things the students do adds up to a lot. They have such a big presence at PAWS and make life for the animals so much better, and for that we are thankful!
