pieces. Save up to purchase
higher-end, handcrafted furniture and accents.
Shop responsibly. Choose fabric
and furniture manufacturers
who don’t exploit cheap labour.

of the story of your home.” It may
result in a higher price tag, but
the result is higher quality as well.  
Avoid seasonal decorating. It
may seem counterintuitive, but
swapping out decor items every
season can decrease its personality. “I believe that every item
you bring into your home should
have a great story behind it—a
personal connection.”
Art is an easy way to inject
yourself into a space. Pick up
pieces when you’re travelling.
Scour the attic for family mementos. Original art can also be
purchased at affordable prices
through Etsy, the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD)
or Universty of Alberta student
shows. Stick to neutral wall colours to make collections really
pop. Consider all-white walls
and use stylish furniture pieces
to add colour and texture.
