desk. The time glowed 7:35AM. The next day felt like any other only this time it was Friday and Friday nights meant dolling ourselves up for Ladies Night. I mean, who could miss it? Ladies drank free all night until midnight, cute boys, and of course C would be there. I couldn’t wait to see him.

It was finally 9:00 PM and my ladies were arriving to pre-game and dazzle each other up.

“What’s up bitches!” screamed Brianna as she walked in my room with a bottle of vodka. Brooke followed behind her with a white soda and chips.

“I got the chaser and snacks. I hope you aren’t allergic, Jess.” Teased Brooke.

“Ok, so who is this C character? You kept saying his name and forgot to hang the phone up while we were on video chat, loser.” Dalicia strutted in the room with a bottle of wine and gave me the look. Everyone knew when Dalicia gave us the look that it meant she was on to something.

Surprised she was smart enough to catch on to me, I blurted out, “Alright fine! I’m pretty sure Chris is trying to get me back!” The room was full of empty air. I could only imagine what they were thinking.

Sam busted the door open, “Where we at tonight, heffers?” The emptiness broke with laughter.

“Trick, we goin’ to Club 721 tonight!”

“Ayy! That’s what I’m sayin’! Well, let’s turn up!”

After two hours of curling our hair, drowning our faces with make-up, and making sure our highlight was on point, we stepped into the taxi and made our way downtown. Club 721 had a huge line, but that didn’t stop us from skipping since we knew the bouncer.

“Hey Tommy! I’ve got four with me today.” BriAnna lead the group tonight since she was so confident in getting a job here.

“Right this way ladies,” Tommy opened the door and a gleam of lights nearly blinded us.

The music was vibrating from wall to wall, sending loads of drunk girls to the dance floor. Chris was there. Chris was there and for a mere second my heart dropped to my stomach. As I made my way towards him, a shorter girl who resembled me was standing next to him.

My girls lead behind me as I stormed out of Club 721. The night was young, but every ligament in my body landed in shock. My whole body had gone from 5’7 feet tall to hitting the bare concrete with my head.

“J,” I whispered, “That’s who he meant by J. Joselyn not Jessica.” I was only three shots and a mixed drink into the night and my mascara had already managed to creep into the crevice of my lip.
