National University alumna Janet Lintala, DC (NUHS 1994) has released a new book titled, "The Un-Prescription for Autism". The book provides clear explanations and detailed protocols to help parents of autistic children employ natural health strategies to restore their child's health, self-control, and language. Successful treatment of key symptoms can pave the way for autistic children to reach their full potential.

“Each year, more than 50,000 U.S. families receive an autism diagnosis. The conventional approach is to medicate difficult behaviors and suppress symptoms, while leaving underlying health challenges untouched,” says Dr. Lintala, an autism mother and, founder of the Autism Health center.

The natural protocols Dr. Lintala shares in her book are the same ones she has been using successfully at her center. They target the underlying issues (chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, gastrointestinal dysfunction, immune dysregulation) associated with problems common to autism.

“Correcting these overlooked conditions with digestive enzymes, probiotics, antifungals, and other non-psychiatric treatments brings results: less pain, less aggression, and a child who is more receptive to behavioral and educational interventions," she says.

Dr. Lintala's autism-based practice draws patients from a six-state area and has an extensive waiting list. She feels that other chiropractic physicians can experience similar success in their practice by using her protocols and reaching out to autism families.

“There is a free companion app for the book to help readers apply at-home care regimens with their children that are discussed in the book,” says Dr. Lintala. “Those interested in my work and this issue can also follow me on Facebook at Autism Health.”

Dr. Lintala's success provides an excellent example of how broad-scope chiropractic medicine can bring healing to a wide range of human health conditions through more conservative and natural means.
