Amy Berglund, DC, (NUHS 2007) traveled with the U.S. Delegation to Granada, Spain, as part of the U.S. medical team at the World University Games, February 1-14. Other members of this elite medical team included the head sports medicine physician and

two physical therapists from Duke University. Dr. Berglund was

the only chiropractic sports physician traveling with Team USA. She provided medical care (adjusting, Kinesio Taping, rehab) to the U.S. Freeskiing, Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Speed Skating, and Curling athletes.

The World University Games is an international sporting event drawing athletes from around the world every two years. The 11-day event, for university students only, is second in size only to the Olympics. It is comprised of 2,500 athletes from 50 different countries and includes the same sports as the Olympics. Dr. Berglund, an expert skier herself, was handpicked to be a part of the elite medical team for this event because of her vast experience working with Team USA and the Dew Tour.

In the summer of 2014, Dr. Berglund worked at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York, where she treated athletes from USA Bobsled, USA Aerial Ski Team, USA Luge, USA Skeleton, and several gold medal winners and athletes that competed at Sochi, Russia, last year. For the past two years she has also been part of the medical team for the Dew Tour, which is an extreme skiing/snowboarding event for professional athletes competing in superpipe and slopestyle in Breckenridge, Colorado.

When not traveling out of the country with Team USA, Dr. Berglund can be found working at her Active Care Family Chiropractic office at The Headwater Wellness Center in Stevensville, Montana. www.activecaremt.com
