KA-1 The project aimed at promoting higher media literacy and safe and tolerant use of the Internet as well as spreading knowledge of basic legal frameworks among young people to combat cyber-bullying. In the framework of the project, participants got a better understanding Through interesting games, where participants experienced all sides and roles of bullying, the participants understood how it actually works and how to encourage other people to be more active against it. Within the group, the EVS volunteers got familiarized with the Council of Europe’s No Hate Speech Movement. During the project, volunteers were introduced step by step to the theme of Hate Speech. They started by discussing about various non- violent methods to combat it and also evaluated the role of media and its influence. They got deeper into the matter and found out more about human rights. Volunteers worked in separate teams responsible for different tasks: media outreach, designing promotional materials, organizing workshops and meetings in schools to introduce local youth to the problem, and encourage them to join as activists to combat Hate Speech. Thanks to all discussions, games and workshops, volunteers acquired solid basic knowledge on the topic and they were prepared to bring the matter to the big audience. There were organized special visits in four schools in Blagoevgrad. In each school were held some of the activities inside, made to raise awareness about Hate speech, Racism, Discrimination, Stereotypes and Prejudice, and some public actions outside with other games and activities aimed at teaching facts or challenging the students’ knowledge of the topics in non- formal and playful ways as well as taking photos and participating in flash mobs.
