Year 9 STEM Challengers
In celebration of British Science Week, Atlas
Elektronik in Winfrith held a STEM (Science,
Technology,
Electronics
and
Maths)
competition for Dorset Schools that saw 2
teams venture out of Sunnyside Road to
Winfrith. The mission? To “design and build a
stealth boat, balancing the benefits of speed
versus sound in a cost effective manner”. One
All Saints team were joined by pupils from
Queen Elizabeth School in Wimborne to
become “Queen All Saints”. Their boat
successfully travelled in a very straight line
and barely registered on the sonar. The nearly
all girl team have each won a place on a 4 day
residential STEM course at Portsmouth
University, run by the Smallpeice Trust. The
other All Saints Team joined the team from
The Swanage School and their boat achieved
runner up.
