Summary of generalities about the country
Brazil or officially the Federal Republic of Brazil is the largest country in South America.
It is the world’s fifth largest country both by geographical area and by population. It is easy to
recognize Brazil on the world map as its shape makes you think of a heart. Facing the Atlantic
Ocean, Europe, Africa and North America without a doubt Brazil receives visitors from
everywhere in the world. The people who live there are very well known for their kindness and
hospitality to visitors from other countries. The official language of Brazil is Portuguese and it is
the only Portuguese-speaking country in South America.
