Music: Teach at least one song weekly. Sing, sing, sing…! Use songs for transitional moments. Differentiate familiar sounds. Ask them to follow rhythms and copy sound patterns. Use different instruments and play to recognize them. Promote expression of feelings through the music and movement. (Ask child to freely draw or dance while listening to different music) Lunch: Lunch time is part of VESS curriculum. Children are expected to be learning about manners, nutrition, good hygiene and nutritional habits. Every child must have a place mat, spoons, napkin and a cup with something to drink. Encourage them to eat and enjoy the food. Tell them stories, talk about the food, describe it, have math talk: more, less, one more etc. Make transition fun and busy. Be consistent with the routine. Have a song for specific moments. Tell the children what to expect. Give them time and let them know how much is left. Toilet: Make child conscious of the process. Do not force the child. Remind them constantly. Show them how to get undressed, cleaned up, sit down etc. Help them. Last 15’ to 30’: Story time, good bye song. Pick-up time, language. Have children ready and in a circle time to greet parents and say good bye to each one. Coordinate with assistant. Centers. Invite children to play in different centers. Offer special activities
