development of the topic. Take on the role of challenging both yourself and your colleagues to
look deeply into the topic and think about its richness and the possibilities for exploration.
3. Share VESS
We suggest you use the VESS disc, not only as a tool for planning and reflection, but also as a
tool to share with your students and to invite them to get to know it and use its language. Each
mind habit, disposition, autonomy or basic need is part of the learning process and the
construction of the VESS culture that we are looking for. Your students must know about your
purpose, look into it and the tools that help us remember it, maintain it, and reinforce it
consistently.
4. Reflect using your planner
Use your planner to make notes on the activities that you developed. It is absolutely normal to
find that some of the planned activities do not happen as was expected; some turn out even better
than expected, but it could also happen that they don´t generate the expected results. If you don´t
take the time to reflect upon this and to document it, you may end up making the same mistakes,
or not taking advantage of valuable opportunities to extend the learning.
5. Take risks
Remember that the VESS modules that you receive monthly are only a platform so that you can
develop more ideas. You know your students better than anybody else, and that is what makes
you the most suited person to adapt, modify and enrich each activity and each project. Don´t be
afraid to take risks and think “outside the box”. Share your experiences with your colleagues, we
are all apprentices and your ideas, positive or negative experiences, are very valuable for all!!
Enjoy the process!
