12 Great question: “¿How does it feel to be in school?" Listen to the children with these 3 questions in mind (the questions are established from the child’s perspective): 1. Can you listen to me? / Can the children’s voices be heard? 2. What do you feel being here in my school? / Point of view for the child of his/her personal feeling, that of the father, the teacher, from the child´s perspective. 3. What is happening here? Strategies to listen better: 1. Observations / write anecdotes and then reflect on them Create provocation so that the children are motivated to discuss about their school life. With the younger ones, you will be able to make several interpretations of the answers to these questions starting from a careful observation and the reflection with other teachers. 2. Organize conferences with the Children Have a meeting/ conference/ small focus group or a one-on-one and ask: Why do you come to school? What do you like most? What don’t you like about being here? Who are your favorite people? What don’t you like? What do the adults that are in school do? What do you think that the adults that are in school should do? Where is your favorite place in school?
