21 - Decide what part of the image can generate more uncertainty, discussion, provocation if you uncover it afterwards. - Permanently ask: what is happening here? How does this art connect with the other? - This type of routine is very powerful when you work with early ages. Make sure you expose babies and 1 and 2 year olds to these routines. Invite them to point to what they see, to act, model their emotions and attitudes. • Routine: Connect, Extend and Challenge o Ask first, what do the images remind you of when you see them one by one? o Then, share the images with the children and ask them to find how they connect with them. See what we learn from these connections. o Invite them to inquire more about the topic, what they would want to know after seeing the images. Water: • The Prehistoric plant On this occasion, we share an experiment done by one of our teachers in a classroom of three year olds. The teacher brought a strange plant into the classroom (similar to a seed). The teacher did a headline routine for thought and gave the seed the name of “Prehistoric Plant” due to its strange appearance. NOTE: You don’t necessarily need to have this plant. There are thousands of species that can be great provocations to explore the power of water in plants. When you explore water, many questions and connections arise. One of them is the connection with the vegetable world. The children proposed the hypothesis that all plants need water to survive. When this seed receives water it opens up and when it doesn’t have water it closes up.
