11 Letter to educators Dear Colleagues, Theater, Literature and Stories of the World opens a door of opportunities that allow us to plan and teach in a very creative, fascinate and untraditional way. This monthly topic invites us to share beliefs and opinions, express feelings and communicate ideas. Among other activities, students can learn about writers, readers, publishers, artists and so on. They can present their favorite story or character, they can explain the meaning of a story, they can create their own story, and they can be involved in the process of writing. However, even though this theme unit is a great provoker to reinforce literacy skills, have in mind that our main goal is to incorporate all subject areas and at the same time to develop all the different habits of mind. As we already mention, this monthly topic promotes thinking skills that empower students to consider all different viewpoints, respect differences, and become more self-aware.
