The Store
Letter to parents
Dear parents,
This month we explore the topic “The Store.” A store whether is a grocery store, a pet
store, or cloth store, fills the senses with sights, sounds, and smells. Undoubtedly, the store is a
place to build math, science and language skills. Looking carefully at and discussing the array of
produce leads to interesting new words as well as discoveries about diversity and variation of
products. Hence, so much language can be developed from the store. There is a variety of
different languages to use with young children, such as physical descriptions of foods. By using
descriptive language while we are exploring the store we provide to our young learners
information which can be used later to classify foods. Positional language and names of objects
are also very important for students’ growing vocabulary.
Our goal for this month is to create with our students a store in the classroom and
provide opportunities to your child to experience the variousness of the stores found in society. It
is extremely important to connect real life experiences with what we do in the school. This
monthly topic serves as a platform to connect with the children’s prior knowledge, needs,
interests, curiosities, creativity, and exploration of the productivity around us. It also serves as a
great provoker for awareness, empathy, understanding of the world but also admiration and
appreciation for things that we have in life. Therefore, our teachers are dedicated and committed
to achieve our general goal which is to promote critical thinking skills through meaningful life
experiences. We invite you to be part of this journey and take into consideration the following
tips in order to reinforce school activities at home in a fun and fascinating way.
