o How is your organization the same or different from those of your classmates?
When the concept of patterns is worked starting from very early ages, it is important to
allow the children to play freely and make their own organization. The teachers’ task is to
observe what they do, inquire why they did it that way, and promote the contrast with other
organization models. We want to understand which are their theories regarding the organization
of patterns and we will only achieve that when we give them the space to prove it by themselves
without models or directions to copy.
This does not mean that eventually you invite them to copy a model, which indicates that
the process of thinking requires this space and time for experimenting freely. The game of serials
and patterns must happen from early childhood.
Assume a role of participant in the game and sporadically model how you play to make
patterns with different elements. Verbalize your process.
