Networks: Generate lists of sub-topics that refer to a given
concept. Ideal for working in teams. Remember that you
can create networks and sub-networks of topics that relate
to the central topic.
Start the work with these conceptual maps starting with one
year olds or younger. First, modeling and then allowing
the children to write and connect the lines by themselves.
Reference Framework:
When the conceptual map is used as a reference
framework, you place on the center what you are talking
about; in this case it would be the solar system. Then the
reference framework you discuss the context in which this
topic is being studied. For which areas is it important to
study this topic. In this case, the children suggested that
knowing about the solar system was important for
scientists, pilots, for people that grow plants, because they
had talked about that previously in class. For those that
study the universe. For all of us that want to know if there
are aliens. In the most external area, you place all the
sources of information where you can find data that refers
to the universe.
