Infant suggested activities
1. Standard-Cooing and vocalizing
- Encourage infants, especially older infants, to repeat the name of basic universalterms such as sun, moon, stars, planet, and so on.
2. Standard-Show interest in people and objects in direct environment
3. Standard-Use vision and hands to explore large and small objects within their reach
- Encourage infants to manipulate brightly-colored inflatable or plush toys such as
a toy sun, moon, star, planet, and so on.
4. Standard- See and point to things that are attractive
- Encourage infants to point to items found in the universe around the classroom
and outdoors, as well. Teachers model language when discussing. What do you
see? What do you think? What do you wonder? (Thinking RoutineSee/Think/Wonder)
5. Standard- Begin grasping with thumb and forefinger
- Provide various types of cereal for infants to pick up and decorate objects such as
a sun, moon, star, planet, and so on.
