The Elaboration Game: Children will explore how we can create shadows and
reflections from light. Encourage students to investigate objects and materials using
electric light. Encourage them predict and test how they can create shadows. Use the TR
during the activity to reinforce.
Wheel of Wonder: Explore the properties of water with an engaging science project. Fill
some containers with water and other liquids. Encourage students to do different
wonders. Ask them what they think it will happen if we mix different liquids with water.
What about oil? Encourage them to observe, look for changes and record. Can oil and
water become friends or not? What is the difference with other liquids? What have you
discovered?
Balance Routine: Introduce the concepts of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Start with the
book “Why is the Grass Green?” Use the Balance routine to help students understand
different dilemmas of the world. Set the dilemma if we really need plants for our survival
or if plants need us for their survival. Use the TR to separate the 2 viewpoints and
encourage students to support their points.
