Understanding Goals General Goals: Students will: • Become increasingly confident, autonomous and independent in using a range of materials, components and resources, information systems, techniques and equipment efficiently and safely to design and make products, processes and systems related to real life experiences and along with practical implementations. • Examine critically the impact of past and present technologies in the home, commercial, and local and global environments, and develop understandings about the role, range and effects of technologies in society and the environment. • Develop a concrete repertoire of creative thinking, risk-taking, decision-making, problemsolving and communication skills to develop innovative and original ideas. Specific Goals: Students will: • Identify examples of technology such as telephone, cell phone, television, DVD • Use simple tools and materials • Use a pretend phone during dramatic play • Take pretend pictures of classroom objects • Describe the uses of cameras, cell phones and/or DVD players • Perform basic tasks using technological objects, such as turning on a computer or pushing the start button on a tape recorder • Describe that a phone is used to call someone and a video camera is used to record movies • Identify the function of simple technological objects • Identify the function of simple technology
