Suggested Provocations
Engineers and Architects can be approached from different perspectives:
Literature: Develop new vocabulary, oral and written expression; enhance
communications skills, reading and interpreting images of different structures.
Numeracy: Identify shapes, measurement (length, height, size), compare and contrast, use
of mathematical language, count, sort, classify
Science: Hypothesize, investigate, explore, invent, reinvent
Art: Design a new structure, expressiveness through art, originality of thought and
creativity
Technology: Explore certain technological tools, understand how technology affects
these professions, explore how machines and certain equipment help architecture and
construction process, from handwritten plans to digital plans
Social Relations: Work cooperatively with others to design and create something, share
ideas, consider and respect ideas of others, understand and value the role of others, act
out roles
The Globe: Explore significant buildings and structures around the world, learn about
engineers and architects from other countries
Eco Awareness: Provide ideas, decision-making, self-confidence, risk-taking
