7 Formation and Support Suggestions for Educators: 1. Write down notes that help you guide your teaching. For example if you experienced an amazing lesson and your students responded very well no it, mark it! 2. Find at least one colleague in another school that teaches your same age (or not!) and share your ideas, concerns, wonderings, and experiences in general. 3. Allow room for creativity and innovation; try to step out of the box. 4. You do not have to present your activities in the same area. Do not be afraid to take your children to the park, or even other classrooms (E.g. Take your 4 year olds to spend some time with the toddlers). 5. As always: • Keep your expectations very high • Model the language of thinking; it really works! • Take risks: Even with the young ones, mention the words just as they are; if they are making a “reflection” make them conscious of it, if they are accounting someone else´s perspective, tell them “I like how you are considering your friend´s perspective” and so on. Suggestions for Parents: 1. Even if your child is five and ready to go to kindergarten; remember that learning “content” is not the most important skill they need to develop 2. Focus on the different habits of mind 3. Communicate with your child´s teacher and be aware of what goes on in the classroom
