24 development Physical Development- Suggested Activities Infant Activities 1. Standard- Cooing and vocalizing - Encourage infants to imitate animal noises and sounds. 2. Standard- Show interest in people and objects in direct - Provide a variety of brightly-colored plush animals in and around infant’s learning environment. 3. Standard- Crawling on hands and knees - Encourage infants to imitate animal movements. 4. Standard- Use vision and hands to explore large and small objects within their reach - Encourage infants to manipulate a variety of brightly-colored plastic and plush toy animals. 5. Standard- Place small items or objects in to a box - Encourage infants to place plastic toy animals in a box. Toddler Activities 1. Standard- Shows interest in people and objects in direct environment - Provide a variety of brightly-colored plush and plastic toy animals in and around toddler’s learning environment. 2. Standard- Begins to put away toys, when clean-up is announced - Encourage toddlers to put away toy animals in correct place and at appropriate time.
