2.
It helps bridge the gap between home
and school: Parents, looking at the work
children do in the day to day, get more
involve and concerned with reinforcing
the thinking philosophy.
3. It serves as a communication medium:
Many times parents do not have enough
time to meet regularly with teachers.
However, the documentations speak for
themselves and inform the parents of the daily living experiences of their children.
4. Involves parents and students: Through volunteer or special activities such as "Mommy
and me," parents have the opportunity to be a part of the learning process of their
children; such activities are documented and reflected in other documentation.
5. Involves parents in PEP - Thinking as a Pedagogical Strategy: With the passing of time
seeing different documentation, parents begin understanding and incorporating the
language of thinking and the process that children experience in the classroom.
6. Promotes family time: As part of the school-family integration, VESS proposes a series
of projects, “Project Home,” that are sent home, and include thinking tools such as
routines, concept maps, and keys. These projects, which are worked jointly between
parents and their children, are documented and incorporated into the documentation of
the classroom.
Benefits of documentation on teachers:
1. Helps us reflect on the projects and the curriculum instilled: It helps us to ask ourselves
what worked, what did not work and why, how each lesson can be enriched, who
participated and how, were the previously outlined objectives achieved, what new
objectives can be engaged, and what patterns emerge.
