53 Motivation An individual who manages to find a meaning in what he does, is an individual who lives with passion and enjoys life; an individual who remains strong and lives a life of purpose. It is not enough to be smart; in the VESS model, it is critical for the individual to also be able to find an intrinsic motivation that guides his or her actions. The individual must be conscious of the fact that he or she must search for a goal, and know that he or she has the potential to accomplish it. In Addition, the individual needs to have a proactive attitude that allows him or her to make sense of his or her actions, and to act with a purpose and meaning that transcends external factors.
