Learning requires trust. Regarding psychology, emotional health must always be taken
into account, and the learner must feel rest assured that the teacher feels responsible for the
class’s welfare and is in a constant search for what is best for each student’s wellbeing. It is the
teacher’s responsibility to foment self-esteem, thrust, and courage in his students.
We believe that the free expression of the learner’s ideas is of great importance, and that all
children should feel confident enough with their teacher and environment to freely express and
commit mistakes without the fear judgment or silencing.
In the same way, the learner must trust the environment and those around it. Socially, the
learner needs a safe condition in which to feel free to express his or herself among the other
learners without the fear of physical or emotional harm. Children must develop social as well as
psychological security in order to be autonomous and capable within a social reality.
Meaning and Belonging:
After physical, social, and psychological well-being is established, it is important to
foster a strong sense of belonging and meaning in the child's life.
Sense of belonging is one of the ideas that form an individual’s identity for an entire
lifetime. Consequently, for the learner to make the most of the teachings that he or she is
exposed to, the learner must feel a strong sense of belonging to the school and establishment to
which he or she is a part of.
For the children, school must be an extension of their home and family, and must feel like
a second home. As such, the school must be a place where students feel respected, cared for, and
appreciated by those around them. Students should feel comfortable and identified with their
school, and feel that they can be themselves without pretensions. It is important that children
have the ability to observe, experiment and try new experiences, and that the school promotes
curiosity and personality.
It is the responsibility of the school to create in the learner a disposition to give meaning
to their lives. The learner must understand why he is doing what he is doing, and must see the
