“Reckless Caution”
Mark Anthony
On his debut solo LP, Mark Anthony has crafted a record that is simultaneously
out of time and timeless, a perfect pop gem.
From the opening notes of “Atmospheric,” to the final notes of ‘Thank You” (or
“We Party” if you’re listening to the Bonus Edition) Mark has created a collection
of songs that manage to sound familiar in some way, but be fresh, new and
exciting.
One track that I just can’t stop humming is “London City,” (
https://youtu.be/cCqw0MThRjs ) I dare you to not immediately hit repeat and call
someone over to watch it. If Joe Strummer were still alive, The Clash would
definitely be covering this number.
Another stand out track, that also happens to have a great video is “An 80’s Vibe,”
( https://youtu.be/TmzNx4_A5k0 ) another number that should be blaring out of
car stereos everywhere.
I also want to make sure I mention “Ska Train,” a great little ditty that makes me
want dance around the room and “Night Cruising,” which someone told me
reminds them of “One Night in Bangkok.”
And Mark doesn’t just make you want to dance, he also can show his soulful and
emotional side such as on “I Still Miss You.” ( https://youtu.be/F4xVzdh4E48 )
This is a record I can’t recommend enough. It’s got good hooks, great grooves and
soulful ballads. (He even drops some fierce rhymes on “Classik Rap”) If the
opportunity to purchase this one (or see Mark perform live) make sure you take it.
Help this record on its march to #1 (where it belongs).
