Mark Anthony also took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some of Johnny Spice’s questions. When writing a song what comes first, words or music? It could be both. Sometimes I'd create a good instrumental track for the type of song I’d like to write, and then write the lyrics to it; then other times, I'd often write the lyrics of the song first, before build the music around the lyrics. Do you think image is just as important as music in today’s music industry? I do, but I do also think that image has surpassed talent in a lot of cases within the music industry today. I personally like to prioritize the music side of things more, as an artist. I know you just released you debut LP, what was the first song you wrote for it? It was the song 'Road Trip', which is about driving from London, into the peacefulness of the countryside. Is there a song you wrote for the record you really like that you ended up having to cut? Well there were over 20 songs recorded for the album, and I was fond of all of them in their own way, so yes, there were quite a few tracks which I had to cut, to cut the album down to the final 13 tracks. I know you also have a radio show, has that had an effect/influence on your writing? Definitely. The radio show exposes me to a lot more music from a lot of different musical genres, which is definitely reflected on the album. The album features musical genres including Ska, Pop, Hip-Hop, Soul, Afrobeat and a Piano ballad.
