“Rock und Roll”

(Warning --- this review contains some salty language --- I know, I don’t
normally do that, but in this case it is necessary)
This album came with an info sheet, telling me all the other things Dean
Cavanagh has done, the previous music, his magazine, the award
winning literary career, the collaboration with Irvine Welsh (yes, that
Irvine Welsh), etc, etc, etc.
After listening to this record for about 30 seconds, I wanted to ball up
that info sheet and play some wastepaper basket basketball because this
record is so fucking amazing that none of that mattered. (yes, I swore,
but the record is that good)
“Rumble in Berlin,” is a song I started humming as soon as the record
was over, and I still find it popping into my head.
I would normally highlight a few standout tracks here, but all 8 of them
are standouts. This is a release that if the cassette said “program repeated
on both sides for your convenience” it would have probably done a John
Belushi-style half cartwheel.
