“When A Song Is Made”

When a band reminds you of something, but you can’t put your finger on what, but
also sound fresh and original, you know they are onto something and that is exactly
how I would describe “When A Song Is Made,” by 200 Hurts.
A duo made up of Alec, multi instrumentalist/songwriter/singer and Jules, Lead
Singer/Songwriter, they deliver a record that should be on every critic’s top ten list.
“Take my love to Jonny,” is a particular favorite of mine. I played it twice every
time I played the record. Just something about the way Jules voice plays with the
music in the one and the story she tells that just grabbed me.
This is one of those records I found very hard to review because every time I put it
on to take notes about what I wanted to mention, I would just get totally lost in it
and before I knew it, the record would be over.
“Not Enough Room,” is another song I want to make sure to mention, another just
perfectly matched vocal to an amazingly perfect guitar.
I can picture the song, “The Dark Angel and the Raven King,” being the
centerpiece of a great short film (any filmmakers out there reading?)

bringing this band to my attention.
